For all intents and purposes, Outpost 1 has fairly advanced technology. All computers have at least basic AIs, others very detailed ones with intellects far superior to those of their makers. These ones are generally watched very carefully.However, what pcs likely want to know first is what they can shoot and with what.

First, all legal weapons are resistricted to 200 yards or less effective range. Obviously, SEOC officials are exempt from this.


Weapons

Melee Weapons - Normal Market

Baton, Pulse: The grown-ip taser, this weapon can deliver a jolt of electricity strong enough to disable a persons weaon arm. A few whacks of it can render the normal sentient being with a nervous system out cold.
Baton, Stun (Taser): The cheap mans pulse baton. Its smaller and is used more to startle people than to
really hurt them.
Blade, Monofilament: Expensive, but it can cut through most basic substances very, very quickly.
Blade, Vibro: A blade (can be dagger, mounted to staff, whatever) with sharp edges like a chain saw. The blade vibrates when held and makes a very useful cutting tool. It carves through bone nicely as well.
Knife, Combat: Basic knife,. Often with a compass, fishing line or something embedded in the handle.
Mace, Gravity: Perhaps the most impressive weapon, the gravity mace feels as light as a small hammer to the user but strikes foes with the force of a sledge hammer.

Ranged Weapons - Normal Market

Pistol, Electric: A cross between a pulse baton and actual laser pistol, its a very common and cheap weapon.
Pistol, Laser: Beams of light. Good visual effects. Made popular by PR. Also one of the few weapons with full 200 yard range for its size.
Pistol, Sonic: This weapon emits a wave of sound designed to stun whatever target it hits.As different races hear at different frequencies, one can risk inadvertently killing someone with one.

Rifles act just like pistols, but shoot more.

Rifle, Beamer: A nasty weapon that shoots sub microscopic beams of energy at foes. Technically legal but a weapon that fires into multiple spectrums is often impounded.

Shotgun stlpe weapons and multiple target ones are limited to SEOC officials.

Armour

Assault Armour: basic suit of armour, worn by almost all militaries
Kelvar Vest: Basic bulletproof vest
Leather Coat: Archaic, but it provides basic defense.
Powered Armour: Armour with enhancements to users strength. Advanced ones even have weapons built into them.
Tank Armour: What it's name implies. Difficult to wear (impossible without some basic training), the armour makes you impervious to most known physical -- and quite a few energy -- weapons. For a while.

Other Tech:

AidKit: Basic first aid, often appicable to your race alone.
Cost: 300

Comm Unit: Basic hand-held communicator. Can communicate with people on basic channels (possibly can be illegally changed to pick up military also). Channels 1 - 20 are open.
Range: 5000 yards. Cost: 25

DataBand: The universal means of indentifying citizens of the Confederation of Worlds. They contain yuour name, homeworld, race, appearance, balance of credits in your personal account and notification of crimes, awards and honours you have receieved. If the band can't be worn, it is inserted into the person in question. The Confederation replaces bands as needed, even now.
Cost: Free

MedKit: Basic medicine, usable by almost any race. Some of the things can be used to poison other races.
Cost: 100

TouchPad: Computer that stores info. as needed. Often used to record conversations or keep journals.
Cost: 50


Cybernetic gear exists, but unless it is replacing a limb lost to accident or to birth defects it is rare, and often seen as ugly.


Computers

Confederation-built computers are all AIs, of varying degrees of intelligence and sofistication. AIs in weapons or armour are manifestedly illegal. Most AI's are voice activated and can translate vocal and visual cues from various races and species. Note that AIs are made by the Provincial or higher levels of the Confederation -- other races have built their own AIs but they are seldom as effective and not linked into the Condederations unparelleled network of intelligence about the various races and peoples.


Living Conditions

Most single homes are 12 by 12 feet (4 by 4 metres) and the same in height. They contain voice and visual scans att he doro as well as touchplates permitting entry to selected people. Some can also be equipped with DNA scans. Most living quarters are blank rooms, with couches, beds, basic kitchen units, andf tables for the race in question set into the walls to come out as needed. One wall is generally a basic view screen with news etc in it. House AIs tend to be very primitive, making drinks and good as needed and recording habits, limiting intake of certain drinks and the such.
