Glossary

This is simply a basic glossary of some terms that can crop up in the game. If you can think of any you'd like to seeor would make sense in the game, contact Alcar about them.

Blood
The Blood are the term used for sorcerers in the lands of blood. They use their magic by cutting themselves or another and can also sacrifice their own strength for spells. Many of them tend to be powerful and are all sorcerers (single classed) if the are Blood. However, a PC can be full Blood if they have another class at a rate of 1 level in that class for every 5 in Blood. A PC with prestige classes is still Blood if they were before.
Blood Lord
The Blood Lords were Blood of great power (at least level 12 sorcerers) who bound their people to them with compulsion spells and mingling their blood with the lords. Tales of evil blood lords drinking the blood of the commoners under them were likely peasant rumours. Nowadays, since many people in Uld are Blood, the title is often honourary and is given to lords even if they are not truly one.
Blood Lost (also seen as bloodlost)
These are Blood who have been stripped of their power through dark means in Uld and Exiled from the Realms.
Blood Kin
A refernce to the half-blood, those with only half the power of the Blood.
Blood King
Blood kings were rare and powerful people in Uld. They were linked to the blood lords and through them to almost every citizen in Uld. No one is quite sure how Uld survived having such powerful men and women ruling it, but as the Sacrifice of Bred indicates, many of the kings were likely not bad people. There has been no blood king since Bred died.
Blood sword
A mythical artifact forged by the dwarves and given to the king of Uld. It was lost when Bred died.
Blood Tree
A blood tree is a special type of tree that does 2 things. Firstly, it drains the magic of Blood who sit near it at a rate of 1 hp / 2 minutes. If they touch the tree, they loose 1 hp and sleeping or leaning against it drains 1 hp / round. Demons or those tainted by demons are literally sucked into the tree and constricted to death, sufferiing 2d10 damage each round. Wizards lose a spell slot every 2 hours they are by these trees and they dont affect druids at all, nor members of The Order. No one is sure who made these trees or why, and they can only be distinguished from other trees by a reddish tinge to the leaves.
Bred
The Altryn Blood King who killed himself with the Blood Sword to help defeat the demons.
Commoner
A commoner is someone outside the tiered lines of Uld. A half-blood can be considered a commoner, but since they have the Blood it is an insult. Any person without the blood is a commoner in effect, which is a big step up from being a slave since even Blood can be made slaves if they anger the wrong person.
Half Blood
Simply put, a half-blood is a person with the Blood who has chosen another path for their life. In game terms, a sorcerer who chooses to multi-class.
Historian, the
The historian is a nearly mythical elf who has access to many knowledges of times before the war. Elves clain the historian is "deeper" than others and sees the world as it really is. Regardless of the truth of this, an elf would do anything the historian asked of them. The current historian, like the previous ones for over 2000 years, is the archivist of Uld.
Insults
Yes, some popular or crude insults used in the world. Have fun with them :)
Cursed - Generic insult, such as "I curse you to drop dead." Some believe that curses can have power even if one has no magic.
Demon - Calling anyone a demon is generally a very high ranking insult, for obvious reasons.
Fated one - Telling someone they are fated to do something often implies they are very weak willed and wimps.
(Wo)Man-child - A man or woman who, for one reason or anther, can't or wont have children. It can also insult a person to say they shouldn't have children or that their children are useless.
Unblooded - This is often a reference to people who have never fought demons but talk big about them.
Wizard - Often used to get people to shut up, for example "You speak as much as a wizard." If one is really daring, you could substitute demon for wizard.
Keepers of the land
A generic term of respect for druids.
Line(s)
These are the lines of power in Uld, determined by your standing in the 7 tiers. More about them can be found here.
Taint
The taint is a magical effect caused by demons that works on the Blood. Exactly how it changes them and how the demons cause it has been lost to time. As a game mechanic, it causes the Blood to change and become chaotic, a threat to friend and foe alike. (Basically, every spell you cast also unleashes a wild surge.)
Unblooded
The unblooded are those born to the blood who take no levels in sorcerer. They only gasin the third power of the blood (if the line has that) or else the first one (the hp bonus). Such people are not considered Blood even if they take levels in it (unless they take a lot) and are despised by their kindred.

More will be added as I think of them :)
