Uld

The high realm, Uld is the center of the lands of blood and the focus of the realms.

Cities and Geography

Like the nations around it, the land of Uld is composed of rolling plains, lush forests and moderate hills. This far after the demon war, the land is once again plentiful and Blood and slave farmers reap the rewards of their harvests.

Ba'Toch

A rebuilt city, Ba'Toch had an evil reputation before the war but the exact reasons aren't known anymore. Some claim they dealt in dark magics or illicit substances, but many others claim the Isle does that rather well on its own. As such, the actual crimes of Ba'Toch have been lost to history and the citizens have no problems with it remaining there. On the whole, the city is very clean and neat, stone buildings and wood side by side in the streets amd a rather quaint feel to it.

The Heart Wood

This wood is the center of Uld in the old times. Now it is largely a good source of lumber and animals to trap in the winter. Locals folllow the maxim of planting a tree for each they take and killing a female of any species -- especially a pregnant one -- can result in severe fines by the government or a beating by your neighbours. Sometimes both, especially if you try poaching.

The Isle

After the demon war, when the palace was destroyed, the Isle rose out of Lake Kedai in response. No one knows much about the isle save that the palace on it was untouched by time and is very old. It seems impervious to demons and their magic and became the logical choice to place the government after the palace was destroyed by the demons. The Isle is highly regarded by the people of the Realms and many saw its rising from the lake as a sign that Uld was destined to survive the war. The stories that it might sink again are often ignored.

Lake Kedai

This lake has been around for a very long time. Once part of the heart wood before the wood was cut back by people needing trees and such but has remained a calm and peaceful place. Some even claim the first wielder of the Blood lies in the lake, guarding and protecting those who carry on her legacy. (Or his legacy, some legends differ.)

The Old Wood

The old wood is old. Many lesser known species make their homes in it, hidden from the other races by magic and skill. Unlike the high wood, it has never been tamed and likely never will be. Some claim even the demons were wary of treading its depths. Little else is known of the wood since few go into it and fewer still are permitted to stay.

Paroc

The city of Paroc is relatively new and is the only city not built on the ruins of another. The founders wanted to get a fresh start on things and not be burdened by the past. Of all the cities in Uld, it is the most lenient and out going, often attracting travellers from other lands to remain there. They also boast a very well built Arena for slave dueling that has become very popular in recent years.

River of the Lady

Thsi clean, sparkling river is the source of most trade in Uld. It has few rapids and seldom overflows its banks, even during the heaviest storms. The name of the lady of the river is no longer known, if such a person ever existed at all.

Ruins

The northern ruin is the ruin of the Palace and city Bred destroyed in his famous Sacrifice. The southern one is the city of Alcar, broken by demons and never inhabited since. Other ruins of villages and such dot the landscape, but these two are the most prominent ones.

Saimraj

This city was rebuilt after the demons smashed it into the ground. The stone was carted away and a city made of trees and wood took its place, with animals walking the streets unhindered and flowers blooming everywhere. It remains one of the most beautiful cities in the realms, and also has the strictest fire codes around. Elves often journey hear to marvel at the city.

Sorus

Sorus was one of the older cities and was rebuilt just afer Saimraj was. It is built entirely of stone owing to large gravel quarries nearby and attracts a fair number of dwarven visitors over the years. The people tend to enforce the laws with regularity and the law is as hard as the stone the city is built from. Few thieves risk plying their trade here.
