<AlcarGM> You are currently in the palace of Quan, leading several giuards away from the entrance ot the dungeons evne as Ryu, Lisha and Bucket head down to very certain doom with a guard.
* Ghenn``` zigs and zags about the place like an annoying little bastard until he has a proper chance to head down there himself.
<AlcarGM> You guess there are a good deozen armed men chasing you, waking up the palace in the process, but by dint of luck, stealth, and plot advancement you manage to evade them in the outdoor garcen, re-entering the plaance ot see one being eaten by some of the more interesting flowers.

<AlcarGM> You manage to find one of the entrances to the dungeon.. probably not the one the others went down, but you're not sure.. this palace was built by lots of architects over lots of years.
<AlcarGM> You can hear servants and the occassional guard stumbling around asking what is going on to other equally confused people/.
<Ghenn```> as long as it gets me there, that's all i care about.
<AlcarGM> The stairway down to the dungeons is stone, and rather horribly cut by dwarven standards.

* Ghenn``` makes his way down it, mentally noting the improvements that need to be made, should he ever come into possession of the place

<AlcarGM> Ok, you go down a good 32 steps, counting because, well, you're a dwarf, before reaching ahallway... painted bright, cheery pink. It ends in a door madde out of what seems ot be rice paper leading down to the dungeons proper. a yellow happy face can be seen through the door, with the words "BE HAPPY, KTHX" under it.
* Ghenn``` just... blinks. for a while.
<AlcarGM> The stairs beyond it are wooden and the spiral down into the dungeons, a few glowing stones set into the wall every hundred feet or so to light up the stairwell. The walls are stone, and covered in various magical runes.
<AlcarGM> You don't hear anyone coming up, currently.

* Ghenn``` attempts to figure them out as he goes along. since he can't, oh well. just passes the time :)
<AlcarGM> Ok, they get more intricate as you go further down, to the point that none of them can be made out on the walls after a good hundred feet down .It must have cost a fortune to get enough wizards to do this.
<AlcarGM> You arrive at a landing and a doorway. Metal, currently locked. The stairs continue down, of course.
* Ghenn``` inspects the lock's complexity
<AlcarGM> It's fairly simply, from the looks of things. Skeleton key style. You could probably pick it with your dagger if you wanted to.
* Ghenn``` checks for alarms/traps then does so, if none exist. Is in no real hurry, after all
<AlcarGM> Of course, you wil stil have to roll. And, knowing sparkie, break your dagger :p

<AlcarGM> It's trapped, all right. Needles from the wall, a stone on the ground that triggers a falling roof *and* what you think might be a pit trap as well...

* Ghenn``` almost whistles while he works, then remembers where he is, and curses his god damned Grandfather, Grumpy, for every having anything to do with that damn song.

<AlcarGM> The door opens creaily, having not been oiled in some time .. to a large romo filled with a single table in the middle, 4 chairs.. and a deck of cards on it. Also a small box beside it.
* Ghenn``` inspects the box for traps, the deck and it's resting place, and the chairs :)
* Ghenn``` checks the room, too.
* Ghenn``` is worried the ass who trapped the door might have it in for anyone who got through that.
<AlcarGM> The box is trapped .. poison. Everything else is normal.. you lock the door, or leave it open?
<Ghenn```> oh, i definitely lock it, and reset the traps :)
<AlcarGM> The rest of the room is empty, except for lots of dust.
<Ghenn```> if i think i can easily get through the traps, that is (knowing where they are now)
<AlcarGM> yeah, you can.... damn the 20 :p
<AlcarGM> you alsom find a trap inside the door, triggered for when it closes.. a spear trap.

<Ghenn```> jeez. this is a real excluse poker club, ain't it?
<AlcarGM> it's the easiest to disable, since whoever used this room probably wanted to be able to leave, too.

* Ghenn``` really doesn't want to be speared, so he gets that one too, then goes about opening the box :)
<AlcarGM> The box opens with your picks and is filled with poker chips in one half... and buttons in the other, like the ones off of trousers, used as the money it seems.

<AlcarDM> (( The ghosts of the players showing up would be cool, but their ghosts aren't the type to hang around.. tho, imo, one would imagine that hanging around the place where you die would be the spirit would equivalence of being a mental midget:p ))

* Ghenn``` reverses the deactivation measures for the two sets of traps; shut down what used to be the way in, and you just shut down the spear trap :)

<AlcarDM> Anbd so our hero exits the poker room in the dungeons, leaving it trapped so the innocent owners will die when they return to play. The Dm attrempts to figure out how that is heroic, then decides to just continue before trying to place it on the D&D alignment system :p

<AlcarDM> The stairs go further down as well, and end abruptly as the murtals do, the rest ofthe way down being a winding dirt path along some natural old river than looks like it was widened pretty much at whim .. in some places you need to crawl, in others the ceiling is a good 30' above your head...

<AlcarDM> After a time you hear noises ahead, hear them enough that you're almost cetain they're real.. a voice speaking words of power that make the air smell like the calm before a storm
<AlcarDM> You're a dwarf, and close to death ... you're hearing somehting else, as well, a strange, high keening noise coming from the very rocks, as if they .. or somethign else.. was mourning...
* Ghenn focuses on the keening to keep him in the realm of conciouness and sanity, and spits out some blood, picking up his pace
<AlcarDM> The words dimish as you go further down, trailing away into a strange, tense silence. as if waiting for something.. a half-dead dwarf stumbling down a trail is probably doesn't count :P

<AlcarDM> The trail levels off, finally, and you see a large carvern lit only by a strange loooking grey-0robed figure standing over a lake of black water ....

<Ghenn> "Originally, I came down here to threaten you into ceasing whatever it is you're doing in the city above."

<Ghenn> "Now... I'm just doing it a little less convincingly, I'd imagine."
<AlcarDM> As you approach the air gets noticably colder.. the black pool of water is covered in a thin sheet o f ice but water is moving restlessly under it.
<AlcarDM> The grey-robed figure is about 5' tall, and thin.... but just.. a robe.. yo can't see anything there except nothingness, an empty void just watching you in silence.
* Ghenn walks around it, looking at the pool
<AlcarDM> The pool is a good 20' wide or so, perfectlt circular and the water seems to be moving in repsonse.. or cause? .. of that strange keening noise you're feeling in the bloodt soles of your boots.
<AlcarDM> The figure just watches you .. intently....
* Ghenn dips the edge of his blade into the pool
<AlcarDM> it reaches the ice, and beigns to feel cold.
<AlcarDM> You hear a voice all around you, soft and toneless. "Your name, before you die."
<Ghenn> "Right kind of you. Name's Ghenn. Ghenn Blacksteel."
<Ghenn> ((nothing especially special happens though?))

* Ghenn does his usual trick of retrieving the evil amulet, and dangles it above the pool
<AlcarDM> ooh..
<AlcarDM> the amulet begins to glow with a sickly gray light.
<AlcarDM> The figure reacts, finally, moving backward.... it would be stepping, if you could see feet.
<AlcarDM> Gray Robed Figure's Voice: "Tools of the Shadow King avail you not, dwarf." The amulet evaporates..
* Ghenn blinks
<Ghenn> "I finally got rid of the damn thing."
<Ghenn> "Well, you've done me quite the favor before you killed me."
* Ghenn leans against the pool, needing the support
<AlcarDM> Gray Robed Figure's Voice: "Favour? I think ...... not....." long pause. "Ah...." the empty cowl regards you.
<Ghenn> "Listen, it's been a looooong walk. Let's cut to the chase. I'll ask you questions, you do what you must. What are you doing to the city above, and why?"
<AlcarDM> Gray Robed Figure's Voice: "I see....... a thief this time......" you hear a noise like small animals being strangled .. it might be laughter... "here, of all places.... and I serve the Shadow King, oh yes.... " another laugh. "Opening a door, little... dwarf."
<Ghenn> "To where?"
<AlcarDM> Gray Robed Figure's Voice: "A House.. A house of a Master ... there will be reckonings, against the Gods.. we are not slaves," the last almost having emotion behind it.
* Ghenn shakes his head, keeping his composure
<Ghenn> "Fine, you've got something against the Gods, that's your problem, and theirs. Not ours."
<Ghenn> "I'll ask you once; get your non-existent carcass out of town."
<AlcarDM> The figure laughs, again. "You will distract my masters, who serve the shadow king.... And your death wil be as slow as the others .. dwarf." another laugh "You are scarecely alive, if you ever were."
<Ghenn> "An astute observation." *spits out some more blood, into the pool*
<AlcarDM> The pool seems ot change, in a moment, turning a pale blue.
* Ghenn looks at it
<Ghenn> "Cute."
<AlcarDM> The figure looks at it, intently, and ignores you entirely. "Hsalienwrr'klorhjidellrnn'ashiente'orel, hear me. You are dead as one who entered the House, you are bound here by my will and art past the death given you by your pride. I bind you by your name, and blood from outside this world."

<AlcarDM> Thre figure seems.. pleased? .. and continues to ignore you, but the toneless voice is a bit softer...
* Ghenn also starts looking around the room for anything else of importance, too
<AlcarDM> Gray Robed Figure: "It is... done." The robes waver slightly. "The door.... opens....." it pauses, then says word you've never heard but makes you feel sick inside. "come..... a Door is open. A House. is ... no ........ a new one... I paid......" The waters of the pool begin to swirl into a whirlpool, taking on every colour known and a fe you've never seen before "no..... I gave up .... " the fire is simply gone, cloak and all.
* Ghenn blinks
<Ghenn> "This is not going at all like I planned."
<Ghenn> (is the water still going?)
<AlcarDM> The whirlpool continues to spin, the ice shattering with a sound like a small cannon shot.. for a moment the ewayters resove into a face.... the face of a dragon... and then it is gone
<Ghenn> "This game has way too many players... why do I have to be one of them?"
<AlcarDM> The dead dragon doesn't reply, but if he could he would say that Sparkie was trying to answer you question :p

* Ghenn starts looking around for anything useful at all
<AlcarDM> The room begins to darken around and the pool stops moving, turning stil and l,ooing, absurdly, like normal water again. That keening noise is gone and you can see shapes in the pool, at the bottom, coming out ofit....
<AlcarDM> What are you going?
<AlcarDM> er, doing :p
<Ghenn> well, being troubled by that, for sure.

<AlcarDM> lol. There is none.. bu tyou get the stong feeling remaining here would be bad....
* Ghenn does his best to get the hell out of dodge then... and runs into a goblin squad!
<AlcarDM> The only exit is the way you came.. and a doorway at the other end, currently closed
* Ghenn heads for that door, assuming whatever is coming up is going to head out the other way, hopefully
<AlcarDM> You hear sounds from the pool and figures begin to exit it. humanoidsw whose featur seem to change from moment to moment in some disturbing rhythm ....
* Ghenn moves as fast as his beaten body will move him
<AlcarDM> OK ... you reach the door as the cavern comes darker.. strange smells are kin the air and the figures are moving together, apart.. changing .... the air takes on an ugly, dead smell and you seem to see holes on the walls, to places that simply can'tg exist.... moe shapes are moving out of them, slowly....
<AlcarDM> The door opens.. oddly, not locked or trapped.. and since you're about to meet Ryu we have to end here :p
<Ghenn> ... dammit. I should have taken the evil demonic presences...
