The World of Ios

Heroes are terrible, boy. Striding the world with their dreamsof power, glory, adventure, renown - and thinking such things will come to them because they're heroes, as if they were gifts. They don't know the price the world pays for such dreams, even if they never come true.
- Brokash, orc shaman

The world of Ios is large and old, with a history stretching back into the dimly remembered creation of the elves and the stories of the dragons, a world of magic and myth, of wonder and terror, a world of fantasy and romance, a place where danger may lurk at any corner, and salvation lie in a single word or a helping hand. There is darkness here, and deep evils from beyond the world, but there are gods, and heroes, and fools all saving the world, one day at a time.

The following links are information about the world, from a map of the northern half of the northern continent to histories, class and religion information and stuff about magic. Have fun. If you find any errors or discrepencies or things you have ideas about or want addressed better, contact Alcar with it.

When dogs mate they think of wolves.
- Kristal, kender philosopher

The Known World: This is a map of the area of the world the PCs know of. The continant of Okaris to the south is largely a myth and the southern half of this (unnamed) continent is the domain of the monsters and unmapped as far as anyone knows, save perhaps for some Quan coastal maps. It includes information about locations, geography, and empires.

The Classes: Just a more in depth look at each class.

A History Of The World: This is a history of the world, focusing on this continent. As the history of Ios is a very long and complex proceess hindered by the vast wealth of material available, there is no set agreement on events. The important events are listed in the order they're accepted to have occured by most historians. There are no dates given because there is no calendar system in use in the world accepted by everyone.

The Gods (& religion): A brief look at what everyone knows about the gods and some information on marriage and the like.

Orders: A listing of some religious (and other) orders in the world.

Magic: A look at magic in the world.

Colour Coding: What you where is who you are. Most of the time.
