First off, there is a big difference between Corporations and Gangs. Corps are legit, for one thing, ad the makers of whatever laws affect the world. Gangs are just primitive Corps -- no different from the gangs of modern times except bigger, with less to lose.

Corporations of Note:

ACME: The name mostly says it all, but this corporation is bent on dominating the alien artifacts market -- by any means necessary. They also like to invent weapons but, as the name implies, the quality of weaspon often leaves a lot to be desired.

The Family: Set up and run like a mob, the family is a large Corporation, mostly dealing with the small fry, but has proven to the larger ones that its the little people that matter, but stopping trade runs and other such deals. The core members are said to be utterly ruthless.

Gentec: A shadowy organisation that rarely reveals its hand, this group breeds mutants who can survive near-lethal levels of radiation and experiment on other people indiscriminately. The No-Men, their cloned operatives, are possibly the most feared Corpses (read Corporate Security) alive.

Microsoft: Possibly the most feared Corp, this company deliberately engineered the shutting dwn of System for a non-VR interface they controlled. This grid encompasses a good portion of the world and is very difficuklt to hack into. Besides this, they experiment with cybernetics, viruses, drugs and anything else that can give them an edge. Since mankind returned to the world, they have gotten their hands on some nasty alien artifacts and are always looking for more.

PsiCorp: This corporation claims to be investigating suppossed psionic powers. Word on the street has it they kidnap Fraal and framen and train them to serve their needs. Also know for brain-wiping drugs and a low tolerance for betrayal.

Vashin: One of the smaller corps, they control the 5 landing sites for spacecraft as well as the illegal ones out there. If someone has angered them, odds are they'll never get off world.

There are rumours of Corps even higher in power than PsiCorp or Microsoft, of Meta-Corps that are struggling to change the fate of the world, for good or evil.

Gangs are more fluid, with members and names changing almost daily in an effort to avoid Corp spies as much as the result of the many inter-gang wars that occur on a daily basis. Due to being in radiated areas -- hot spots --most gang have at least one odd mutation, rarely beneficial. Most people in Quiet Zones know how to spot a gang member's varying insignia and how to try and avoid them, as a general rule.
